Greetings from RLS!
As our first School Advisory Council meeting is this week, I wanted to take this opportunity to share the goals of this group. Established by the Educational Reform Bill from July, 1993, School Advisory Councils consist of parents, teachers, the school principal, and a community member. Last year, a letter was sent home soliciting parents who were interested in volunteering for this opportunity. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated group who have offered to volunteer for a two-year term! I am thankful to each team member for his/her service to RLS!
Last year the Council surveyed the parent and teacher community to chart our future goals as well as to guide the writing of the School Improvement Plan. We spent time analyzing the survey results at our last meeting of the year. We will use that information to chart our course for this year at Wednesday's meeting. I am excited to find out what projects the Council chooses to undertake!
I invite you to click here for a link to our new webpage which is where our members are listed. At each meeting, there is time dedicated to "Open Forum." During this time, Council members are invited to bring forward any questions/concerns/positive shares they have heard from the community. If there is something you would like to be discussed during Open Forum, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the Council.
As they become available, all agendas, minutes and handouts will be posted on this page as well. For example, when you visit the page you will see that this week's agenda is posted as well as the survey results as they will be discussed this week.
We welcome your participation in these meetings. If there is a topic that is of interest to you that appears on an agenda, please do not hesitate to join us as all of our meetings are open to the public. If you have a question or something you would like to bring on your own to Open Forum, you are invited as well.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns or something to share, please do not hesitate to give me a call, send an email or stop by!
Regards,
Julie
