St. Peter School News

May 31, 2022

St. Peter School exists to provide a nurturing environment where students become Disciples of Jesus Christ, embrace the love of lifelong learning, and believe in the dignity of all people.

"Do not let the past disturb you. Leave everything in the Sacred Heart of Jesus

and begin again with joy."

St. Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The news of this past week from Uvalde, Texas has been heartbreaking; our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have been impacted by this senseless act of violence. As our Most Reverend Bishop Caggiano stated this past week, "We stand in prayerful solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Uvalde. May our Lord cling to them in their brokenheartedness, and our Mother Mary wrap them in the mantle of her comforting love."

At St. Peter School, the safety and emotional well-being of your children remains as our highest priority. We have a safety plan in place, and our faculty and staff are here to support your children in any way possible. Below is a link which was shared with us from Danbury Public Schools that you may find helpful in speaking with your children should questions arise.

Talking to your Children about Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers

In honor of Memorial Day, we offer a special prayer for those who are serving our country currently, those who have served our country in the past, and those who have sacrificed everything for our freedoms...

God of power and mercy,

You destroy war and put down earthly pride.

Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,

that we may all deserve to be called your sons

and daughters.

Keep in your mercy those men and women

who have died in the cause of freedom

and bring them safely

into your kingdom of justice and peace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (USCCB)

On a lighter note, the end of the year is just a few weeks away and we still have so much to celebrate with our students! Hot Dog Day, Field Day, Grade 8 Dinner and Graduation, Confirmation for our 8th graders, Kindergarten Moving-Up ceremony, and PK Moving-Up Ceremony are just some of the events on the horizon.

We have pictures of the May Crowning which was such a special celebration of Mary. During the May Crowning, students shared flowers, prayers and blessings in honor of Mary.As this is the month of Mary, we offered a daily devotional in honor of Mary as well.

You will also find pictures of the SR graduation which was well attended by family and friends.

The Q & U wedding in Kindergarten is always a hit and Grade 1 had a great time releasing butterflies.
