HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 3 - 26 October
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians
Today’s interschool athletics participants gave it everything! They are to be congratulated for doing so. P.E. teacher Rob Flexman has worked hard with this team and likewise is to be congratulated – thanks very much Rob!
By every account all 147 people who attended our HRC event last Saturday night had an amazing time! A number of people committed heavily to ensure it all was going to go well. You are awesome! Thank you very much!
Likewise the investment by such a big group of parents and children in the renewed Pre Primary playground, is reaping amazing dividends! It is just beautiful. The creativity and commitment of everyone involved sees a beautifully reimagined space for our children. It is like a paradise!
Constable Care visits our school on Monday, which will be fun! As always an important message delivered in an engaging and enjoyable way.
Last Monday, our new incoming Assistant Principal Aleana Brennan spent the afternoon with us. She will be working alongside Geordie. The conversation was about the leadership model we work with here, and how this translates in to responsibilities shared among the leadership team and beyond. She is genuinely excited to be joining us from City Beach. So are we.
Our prayers are with all of our children receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday.
To all our staff, a very happy World Teachers Day today! You are truly remarkable people. All you do means so much to us.
Best wishes.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

As we draw closer to the end of term school fees are now well overdue. Approximately 25% of fees have not been paid. The school has financial obligations and is reliant upon payment of its fees. We will be contacting families who have an outstanding account in the coming weeks.
Please see below for payment options.
HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY NEWS
Disco Friday 2 November
We are asking for parent helpers on the night. If you are able to help out please reply to holyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
** MUSICAL BINGO – OH WHAT A NIGHT! **
Thank you to all those who attending Musical Bingo last Saturday night.
The night was a great success and it was great seeing everyone have so much fun. We loved how much effort everyone put into their costumes and how great they looked (some unrecognisable!).
A huge thank you goes out to the team of organisers. Lots of time and effort was put into this fundraiser by many parents behind the scenes. As well as dedicating their precious time to organising this fundraiser, these parents were juggling their children, family and work commitments all at the same time. We know it isn’t easy. Without parent volunteers these events would not be possible. So thanks again to our team of organisers, your efforts are more than greatly appreciated. By the way, the gym never looked so good!
Another huge thank you to all our of sponsors, families and companies that donated. Without these people we wouldn’t have been able to raise much needed funds for our school. Thank you very much!!
We are busy tallying up the final amount we have raised and in the coming weeks we will let you know exactly what that is… stay tuned.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, go over to our Facebook page and view the Photo Album from the night (link below).
Thank you for supporting the Holy Rosary Community major fundraiser.
Please keep supporting our school’s events and fundraisers!

PP Playground and Musical Bingo
Last Saturday the school was humming with activity, with parents laying the concrete creek at Pre-Primary, while others were transforming the gym for Musical Bingo.
We are so fortunate to have a school community like this one!
HOLY ROSARY BUSINESS DIRECTORY
As a Parent Community we would love to see a culture of thinking Holy Rosary first! Please have a look through the directory to see what these businesses might be able to do for you. If you would like to be listed please contact Mark Nolan at holyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
Our Musical Bingo evening would not have been possible without the support from local businesses. Here are the sponsors from our School Business Directory who got involved. Have a look at what our school families do and support them!
We are adding new businesses all the time so please open our book and take a look. Click here to see our Businesses.

Library News
Year 1D all had their library bags again this week and are enjoying having their pick of the books! Well done and thank you 1D!! As well as borrowing books each week and listening to a brand new story, students love to learn new things about our library. The year 1’s are currently learning how to navigate the Non Fiction section and each week we are looking for a new topic of books and how to find them according to the Dewey Decimal system. I am sure they can tell you all about it! Have a lovely weekend!

“Because that’s what Hermione does,” said Ron, shrugging. “When in doubt, go to the library.”

FAQ
A few came up on Tuesday at the HRC meeting so I take the opportunity to address them now.
The regular message in the newsletter about overdue fees suggests that there is a high incidence of non-payment. Is this the case?
No it is not the case. The vast majority of families meet obligations on time. Holy Rosary needs fees to operate effectively and fee payment is actively followed up when necessary.
How are classes for the following year organised?
Not all grades are regrouped every year. This follows the school’s policy of broadening friendships (regrouping) and deepening friendships (staying together). Part of our teachers’ work includes determining which grades will be regrouped and how, which teachers will be in which grades and in which rooms.
There is a lot of work behind these decisions. Teachers take their responsibilities very seriously and I ask everyone to trust them to make the right call.
