What is a Classroom Community?
- A classroom community is an environment in which students feel valued as individuals, and connected to their teacher and to each other. Students believe they have something to offer the community and the community has something to offer them.
- Students have: confidence in their need to belong.
- Students develop competence (you have the skills you need for YOUR Next Step= the next step of your choosing).
- Students experience independence (student voice and choice).
- Students engage and have fun.
- Students feel connected to their teacher and with each other.

Students must complete required school and district forms to use their own devices and an application to receive wifi access.

Create a STRONG password
Who Knew Assignment
- Students write 5 statements about themselves, one of which is false, on the front (lined side) of an index card.(Do not indicate the one truth on the card).
- Students bring in a picture of themselves or selfie (school appropriate)
Process
- in class, another student will try to guess the one truth.
- We will create a class Who Knew board using your pic and your card.
Create a Go Formative Account
- Type in the Go Formative web address into your device
- Create an account using your school email and the Common Password you created above.
- Enter the appropriate class code for your class (see below) You will be asked to confirm that you are joining the correct class.
First Go Formative Assignment
- After creating a Go Formative account using the directions above, click on the assignment labeled Common Password for Digital Tools.
- Follow the directions and submit your response for my feedback.
Assignment for Day 1
- Reread the What is a Classroom Community at the top of this flyer and revist you #YouMatter handout from the beginning of class. Refine and/or finish your reflections as you work to articulate your genius-- your contribution to our class that is needed and valued. Have the #YouMatter handout completed for class tomorrow.
- Get your letter and Safety contract signed (by both you and your parents) and return to class tomorrow.
- Gather your Shelton Class materials on the list above and bring to class along with your technology available (cell phone, tablet, computer if applicable).
- Complete your Who Knew assignment according to the directions above. Bring your index card with 4 truths and 1 lie (believable lie) and your picture to class.
- Create your password and Go Formative account. Submit the first Go Formative assignment according to the directions above.
