Weekly Update

A Quick Wrap Up of Our Quick Week:

This week seemed to fly! In science, we are ready to move from learning about cells to plant and animal classification. This part of the living systems unit will span the next two weeks. I took some pictures of Cell Design Challenges under construction, but cannot get them to upload to this newsletter! Students continue to read (voraciously!) and we are working on writing and spelling. Next week we will continue with spelling words and some grammar. Our first issue of Time for Kids arrived this week, so there will be opportunity for nonfiction reading and classwork next week! This is the shark population issue!

I hope your student will think about submitting an entry in the P.T.A. Reflections contest! The theme is "Let Your Imagination Fly" and there are many creative options!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back to School Night. Thank you for taking the time to come and get an idea of what a day in the life of your 5th grader is like! I mentioned HomeworkOpoly that night and the kids have some input in the game; they would like a junk/recycle prize box. If you have any little items to send in we will make good use of them! The kids have some good ideas (it sounds like a fun way to swap little items) but pencils and erasers would be fun to throw in the mix...Thanks in advance for any little items that find their way to our HomeworkOpoly box!
