KA Class Update
Friday October 2, 2015
Smile! Picture Day is right around the corner!
Picture Day is on Tuesday, October 6th. Uniforms are not required, but we'll be sure to put on our fancy pants and dressy shoes! All students will have their photos taken, photo packages can be purchased once proofs become availible.
Back to School Night!
Hello Community of Readers, Writers and Mathematicians!
This week we have been getting to better know each other as individuals, as well as KA as a group of learners. We have enjoyed singing songs, playing games, sharing about ourselves, reading exciting books and sharing about the neighborhoods we live in. Through all of this we have been able to create a caring and warm classroom where all welcome.
Part of our community building in KA is using names to address individuals. Today your child was sent home with a packet that contains pictures of the students in our class (except one who will be arriving later this month!) and pictures of our Specials teachers. Please make time this weekend to check in with your child about who is in class and who teaches her/him Art, Spanish, Science, Dance, PE and Music.

IB Learner Profiles at BPCS
As an IB World School, BPCS strives to foster the growth of students both academically as well as internationally minded citizens who are aware of the world outside of their local environment. To do this, the school incorporates the IB Learner Profiles into the classroom. The IB Learner Profiles describe a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities and, in turn, embody traits of a well-rounded individual. The Learner Profiles are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
Throughout the year, we will be discussing the Learner Profiles in the classroom as a way to bring to life the traits. Starting in October, our school will focus on how a person demonstrates they are Caring. One who is kind and respectful and considers others' feelings when making choices. A person who takes care of their classmates, classroom, and school. An individual who notices how others feel and strives to have a positive impact on their day.
¡Hola, KA habla español!
KA started this school year in full Spanish Immersion. ¡Sí! No inglés. Solo español.
Everyday in our class we use music to sing, dance and explore the Spanish Immersion. We learn how to greet, how to introduce ourselves, and now we are exploring body parts in Spanish. We even get to create our group Spanish Monster!! Uyyyy… ¡Un monstruo!
We are going to learn MUCHO ESPAÑOL!
