Getting Started
CONTENT & PEDAGOGY
For ALL TEACHERS!
Achieve the Core has a tool on its website that EVERY teacher can use!
The Academic Word Finder lets you enter text and a grade level, and then it identifies academic vocabulary words for you. It even identifies those above and below grade level.
Why does this matter to you? Because this tool can help us identify those words that might "stick" a child in their reading ahead of time. Remember -- academic vocabulary is not content specific. We are not speaking of photosynthesis or abolition or pointillism. These are words that can be used across all content areas like obtain and causal and process.
Check it out, and look at their other great tools while you are there!

WRAPPING IT UP WITH A SMILE!
Lego Art!
From Oneida Principal Eric Coriale:
"North Broad Street Elementary PTO, under the coordination of NB parent Mrs. Jena Peebles, are on a quest to unveil a Lego mystery!
Each classroom was given a set of Legos and a baseplate in a gift bag, with color-coded instructions on where to place each piece. Once assembled, the baseplates will be sent back to Mrs. Peebles to create a twelve-piece mosaic, showcasing an amazing image that will hang in the halls of North Broad Street Elementary. The anticipation of the final piece is causing a lot of excitement around our building!"
Thanks for sharing, Mr. Coriale! North Broad took advantage of the MO BOCES Performing Arts CoSer when booking this local artist.
