We had a great first week!

We had a fantastic first week of school! As I visited classrooms this week I observed great student engagement, collaboration, and effort in every room. We capped our week off with our first No Excuses University Pep Rally! The students and teachers had a blast and it set the tone for our year ahead!! GO BEAR CREEK CUBS!!!!

The 2016-2017 Bear Creek Shirts are Here!!!!

Bear Creek shirts are now on sale for Spirit Days! Your child should have brought home an order form. The cost is $15.00 each and we have sizes from Youth Small to Adult 3X available. We have a variety of sizes available in the front office to try on. The deadline to order is September 9th!!! Bear Creek Spirit days are on Monday this year and Friday will be our college spirit days!

BCE "Independence Day"

Friday was our “Independence Day” at Bear Creek and starting on Monday we are expecting our students to walk to class on their own and for parents to not go beyond the front lobby area. This is for the safety and security of our students and it allows for our teachers to properly greet each child and start our instructional day smoothly. All Bear Creek staff members are in the halls in the morning to ensure that each child makes it to class safely. Walking to class without their parents promotes independence and self confidence in our students. Any parent that needs to go beyond the double doors in the foyer must check in at the front office and receive a temporary ID badge. This includes parent/teacher conferences, eating lunch with your child, or any other event that takes place during school hours.

College Spirit Days at Bear Creek!!!

Bear Creek is an official No Excuses University School! Part of N.E.U. is preparing and educating our students for college. Each class has adopted a University to represent and celebrate this year. Every Friday our entire school is encouraged to wear their favorite college gear!!! It was fun to see so many students already participating the first week of school!

Community Feedback Groups--We are still looking for some parent volunteers!!!

Bear Creek would like to partner with 4-5 families this fall to host informal neighborhood meetings to gather feedback and gain insight into what expectations or goals they might have for their child’s school. The idea is for a Bear Creek family to host a small group in their home one night in the fall and invite a few neighborhood parents that would like to participate in a question and answer with Mr. Calvert. These meetings will start at 7:00 p.m. and end promptly at 8:00 p.m. If you are interested in hosting a one-time community group please email Mr. Calvert at

· Students that paid their device fees last year will need to pay $15 this year to complete the $50 device fee.
