Happy December Families!
We completed trimester 1 and saw a lot of growth from the students. Report cards will be visible starting the evening of Dec. 8th on your ParentVue App. Please see the directions below to view these. If you do not have your login information, you can call 763-506-4357.
This month our character trait is Empathy. Students and staff will be learning ways to look at the bigger picture, and multiple viewpoints in situations. Please watch for the parent letter to come home to see how you may be able to support these conversations as well.
As we continue to see the temperature drop, please make sure students are coming with coats, hats and mittens. Once there is snow on the ground, they will also need snow pants and boots. Students do go out for recess everyday for 30 minutes.
Math Night is coming up this week! This is one of our most loved events featuring Mathnasium. Please join us Thursday from 5:30-7:00!
Read well by 3rd grade is a state initiative. We also know that the ability to read is a huge factor in the long term success for adults. Our K-3 teachers have been involved in extensive training in both LETRS, a science of reading training, as well as Bridge2Read, a curriculum to support implementing the science in the classroom. One of the biggest factors of successful readers in how much time students spend reading on their own. Please help support your child at home by having them read to you each day! The consistency matters!
Dates to remember

Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you to all of the Evergreen Park Volunteers who have worked to make our school an amazing place to learn and grow! We now have almost 80 active volunteers who have put in hundreds of hours so that things like field trips, math night, and picture day run smoothly. Volunteers also are helping to keep lost and found items tidy and assist with EveryMeal food distribution. The opportunities to help are endless, so thanks to all who have volunteered so far this year.
There is still time to volunteer this year. If you haven't done so yet, make sure to fill out the volunteer application and background check form for this school year so that you are ready to go when exciting opportunities arise. You can do that by clicking the link: Evergreen Park Elementary Volunteer Application
Next Opportunity: Math Night at Evergreen Park - Thursday, December 7. Volunteers are needed to help run some of the fun math games. No need to be a math expert...instructions will be provided. Please click the link below for more information and to sign up to volunteer.
Report Card Information
New for the 2023-24 school year, elementary school report cards will be available online and will no longer be sent through postal mail or student’s backpacks. Families will be able to access report cards by logging into A-HConnect or viewing it on the ParentVUE mobile app.
The switch to online report cards means that information is available to review at the conclusion of each trimester. Schools will notify families when the report cards are available to view. Parents, guardians and any person with educational rights to a student will be able to access the student’s report card online.
To ensure access to the report cards when available at the conclusion of Trimester 1 (Nov. 30), families are encouraged to make sure they have their login information now. Currently, report cards from last school year are available for viewing.

Health Services
Spare Clothing
The health office is always in need of new spare clothing. Please make sure your student(s) has a change of clothing to keep in their locker for accidents and winter weather.
Winter weather reminders:
Minnesota weather is shifting gears, and the Anoka-Hennepin School District has plans in place for when extreme winter weather arrives.
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in adverse weather. If a determination is made to close school due to extreme winter weather, the district will alert families in a variety of ways, including:
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
Those responsible for activities scheduled in schools over the weekend will determine if adverse weather conditions necessitate a cancellation.
Read more about the district’s policies on extreme winter weather at ahschools.us/weather.
