Picture Retakes

Picture retakes will be Wednesday, October 14. You must have your original picture packet for retakes.

Book-It

Book-It started on October 1st. 2nd graders read for 300 minutes at home to reach their goal or meet their AR goal at school. Read, Read, Read!!!

Dawson County Children's Museum

DCCM presents Kitchen Science. The children will learn about polymers and science, make silly putty, slime, super balls, and kool-aid playdough. This activity is free to the public. Kitchen Science will take place at the Lexington Library on Saturday, October 10th from 10-11:30 am!

Math News in Second Grade

Math facts that have been introduced so far to the 2nd graders are +0,+1,+2,+3, doubles, doubles +1, +8, +9. Please watch for assessments coming home so you can see how they are doing on their facts. If you have flash cards at home you can pull out these facts and help them practice. We have also been working on time to the half hour, dimes and pennies.

Science News in Second Grade

In Science we have been working on matching backbones to animals, camouflage, and pumpkins and plants. We are finishing up with life science and we will be starting Social Studies next quarter.

Book Orders

Book orders have been or will be sent out. They are due on October 16th. You can send a check to school with your order. You can also order on-line at the website scholastic.com/readingclub with your teacher's code and earn free books for the classroom.

It's getting cooler!!

Second graders are going out for recess at 10 am this year. It is still cool at 10 am, so please remind students to have a jacket or a sweatshirt to wear outside.

High School Football Games

As in past years, please remember that there is no adult supervision outside the perimeter fence of the football stadium on game days. Cozad Schools encourages all students to sit with their parents or in the student section during football games.

Cozad Elementary Parent Organization Carnival - October 22nd

Our parent organization is looking for volunteers to help with the carnival on October 22nd. They will be splitting volunteers into shifts so everyone can enjoy the fun. If you are looking for iPad apps to help practice math facts, check out Find Sums (iphone app) it will work on the iPad and Ten Frames by Greg Tang. The kids have also learned how to make a collage with pickids and add their voices in Telligami.
