CityPRAYS
Easter Edition
Our Pastors Request Prayer
"Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers. And pray also that God's revelation would be released through me every time I preach the wonderful mystery of the hope-filled gospel. Yes, pray that I may preach the wonderful news of God's kingdom with bold freedom at every opportunity. Even though I am chained as a prisoner, I am his ambassador."
Let this be our unified prayer! Let us pray for our pastors by name and for the other pastors in this region, even those whom we do not know! Let this be a mighty outcry to The Living God for the gospel to go forth with unparalleled boldness and unity in this region! Let us press in for a release of the Holy Spirit's work beyond our experiences as a region! And then watch on with expectancy even as a watchman watches for the morning light KNOWING that it is coming.
In Matthew 26 as Jesus prayed in Gethsemane just prior to his arrest and crucifixion, he asked his disciples to stay awake with him as he prayed. He found them asleep. This time he told them, "Keep alert and pray that you'll be spared from this time of testing. You should have learned by now that your spirit is eager enough, but your humanity is weak."
Obviously the disciples wanted to pray, but their humanity overtook them - and they were caught unprepared for the events that unfolded. Peter respond by cutting off a random ear to protect Jesus, and then denying he even knew Jesus! Let this not be our story! Let us humbly pray knowing that in the midst of prayer for our pastors and others, we are resisting the flesh and embracing the eagerness of our spirit to PRAY.
