Sand Creek Zone June Newsletter

End of the School Year Thoughts

We have finished another successful school year for the Sand Creek Zone. I want to say thank you to our staff, parents and community members. I very much appreciate our team’s sacrifice, dedication, and enthusiasm in addressing students’ success. The “Pursuit of Excellence” is not easy. Knowing how much energy goes into preparing our learners each day, it is important to find time this summer to relax, enjoy a break, and spend time with families. Have a great summer! - Sean Dorsey

Summer Projects for the Sand Creek Zone

  • Sand Creek will have their football field turfed, a refresh in the foyer, new carpeting and new paint.
  • Remington has most of their upgrades complete but plans on bringing in community members to do some outside gardening.
  • Evans will be replacing carpet in the main office, the halls and in the library.
  • Springs Ranch will get new carpeting throughout the school and will have a new playground installed.
  • Horizon will have new lighting and carpeting replaced in all classrooms and they will be installing a new gym floor.

Thank you to all community members for voting yes on 3B and allowing all of these upgrades to be possible!

Congratulations to the Class of 2018!

Sand Creek HS grads and family members entered the World Arena on Saturday, May 26th for the Class of 2018 Graduation Ceremony, where 274 Sand Creek seniors received their diploma. “It’s been one wild ride. Four years have come and gone and we couldn’t have done it without those around us,” said, Kendyll Cox, senior class president. “High school isn’t like high school musical at all. There aren’t people breaking out to choreographed dances in the middle of lunch, except me on the occasional Tuesday,” said Mehki Reese, student body president. Valedictorian, Katrina Smith, gave her speech. “We are who we are today because of the people here. I am who I am not just because of my friends, my family or favorite teachers. I am who I am because of them and people I don’t even know. That could be said for every one of us,” stated Smith. Teacher of the Year, Linda Herrera, gave a touching speech using the Boston Marathon winner, Desiree Linden, as an example of why it’s important to show up. Students were then awarded diplomas followed by the tassel ceremony. #D49GradsShine
