From the Principal.....
Dear Mustang Families,
The Mustang staff are committed to creating a year of excellence for our children as we focus on bringing our students, staff and community together to "Believe” in our path together. "Believe" is our motto as we continue to focus on making our district vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. This will guide our work to believe in our students, our staff and our families working together. We're going to believe in each other in our quest to make a difference. #McBrideBelieve
As always, please feel free to reach out with question, concerns or compliments!
Sincerely,
Lisa Tyler

Principal for the Day!
What a great Principal in the making she is! She said to me at the end of the day, "I'm so proud of myself because I overcame fear being in front of so many people!" Great job, Paige! You represented all Mustangs well!

Do you ever wish you could take a little break during your busy day?
Introducing McBride’s Reset Room.
McBride teachers are amazing at engaging students in their academics and keeping the “Learning Train” on track. We all know, however, sometimes the train jumps the tracks; mental fatigue sets in and now tasks appears too challenging, focusing is difficult, or perhaps a social interaction draws attention from learning. Teachers provide space (Calm Corners) in their classrooms for students use to get back in to their Learning Brains, but sometimes, students need a little more.
McBride now has a room located in D Pod available to students to come a do a quick reset. Students begin to calm their thoughts by focusing their breathing before entering the room. They continue the process when they come in by sitting and relaxing their bodies. They are then given calming tools and a 5 minute sand timer is started. After 5 minutes, the best part of their time in the Reset Room begins as students do a “Problem-Solving” sheet with an adult. They think about how they became unfocused (dysregulated), what they tried and what they can try next time. We also ask if there is anything we can do to help them. From start to finish, the process takes about 10 minutes. Time well spent as students return to class refreshed and ready to rejoin learning.

McBride Holiday Wreath Fundraiser
We are selling beautiful, fresh cut wreaths from Granstrom Farms to raise money for the 4th and 5th graders playground. Currently, those students only have a zip line, a twirl around, basketball hoops and the big field to play sports games on. We would like to provide the 4th and 5th grade Mustangs with a variety of hands on, sensory related activities and games, to help reset their minds and bodies and to nurture positive social interactions with their peers while having fun.
Limited quantities available - 25 18” wreaths and 25 22” wreaths. First come, first served.
We will be accepting orders until 11/22/19.
The orders will be available for pickup on 11/26 & 11/27 during conferences.
Order forms were sent home this week with students.
Dollar Day$ Coin Drive
Our first Dollar Day$ mini coin drive is coming up next Friday, November 15th. Students are encouraged to bring in anything from a penny up to a dollar. Just spare change that might be laying around in the couch cushions or on the car floor, etc. The funds raised will go directly back to benefit the students class by helping pay for their special incentives, classroom supplies, and much more. Each class has their own piggy bank. The class that raises the most money will get a prize.
McBride Junior PTO
This year’s Junior PTO is made up of nine 4th and 5th grader students. As a group, they are picking local causes to fundraise for throughout the year. After school on the 21st, come see us in funny costumes, getting the word out about what supplies our furry friends need. We will be collecting : Canned Kitten Food, Grain Free Dog Food, Blankets - big and small, toys, toys, toys. Items can be dropped off at Parent Teacher Conferences with your students teacher. We will have collection areas in various locations throughout the school. The Columbia Humane Society Fundraiser will run through 12/13.

McBride Holiday Bazaar 12/7
We need VOLUNTEERS!
The annual McBride Holiday Bazaar will be held in the McBride Gym on Saturday, December 7th, from 9am to 3pm.
We need help setting up on Friday, the 6th, from 3:30pm to 8pm. We will need help moving tables, setting out décor and classroom made items for the event.
We will also need volunteers during the Bazaar. We will be providing a kids craft and activity table, and will need adult supervision. We also need help with cleaning up after the event. Any time you are able to offer would be fantastic, and make the bazaar a fun community event for all!

Biztown
The PTO is proud to offer the 3rd annual enrichment for the 5th graders – JA Biztown! Biztown is a phenomenal way for the students to get experience in what it takes to make a town function and thrive. The field trip takes place in December, but, in order for the 5th grade to attend, McBride has to provide trained volunteers to be there during the program with them. We need 23+ trained volunteers during the field trip. If you have a 5th grader or an upcoming 5th grader, you can attend one of two training sessions offered, OR do the 45 minute online training. Please ask your child's teacher for more information and the link for the online course. The training is valid for multiple years. If you received training last year and would like to volunteer again this year, keep your eyes peeled for the Biztown Field Trip sign up to come out shortly.
