Miss Parmer's Third Grade Class

November 22nd, 2013

New & Improved

Our newsletter is being upgraded! We are trying out a new way to have parents receive the weekly newsletter since we have resorted to sending it through email. We are hoping this upgrade is fun and works well on the other end. You will still receive a group email each week regarding the newsletter. The new format is off a website that helps create the template. You should be able to see the newsletter right in the email message rather than it being an attachment. We had fun playing with the new touches with different fonts, colors, and backgrounds. Look each week and see who we have featured in our pictures!

What We Are Doing

In Writers' Workshop we are wrapping up our research projects. Students are doing a great job so far on their final copies and projects. These will be turned in for a grade on Tuesday, November, 26th. The plan is to have the finished projects displayed outside our classroom.

In Readers' Workshop we started looking at different types of literature, specifically looking at plays and poems. Students are required to learn the different text features (stanza, scene, act, characters, etc.) each type holds.

Math we did a lot of reviewing this week for our unit test that we took today. The students did extremely well! We are so happy with their scores and proud of how hard they have been working. Our next unit will focus on perimeter, area, and angles.

Our Science unit has been wrapped up and the class has been working on a review in class that they can take home and use to study. Students are more than welcome to take home the science book as well to go over the things we talked about. Our Sun, Moon, and Stars science unit test will be on Tuesday, November 26th.

Christmas Time Is Here!

Today the students will be sent home with a permission slip that will allow them to go to Staley High School on December 5th to watch the high school play. Please have these signed and returned as soon as possible!
