Principally Speaking: Adopt - A - Textbook

Want to determine which Math and Science textbooks are used next year? Well, here is your chance. Your feedback is valuable in the decision-making process. Don't let your voice go unheard.... Participate in three easy steps:


1. Review the samples:

  • Math: Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt, Pearson –Envision, and Pearson-Investigations
  • Science: Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt and STEMscopes


2. Access online resources. Two files with information about how to access the resources on-line have been placed on the NRES Collaboration Site. NRES Shared Documents>2013-2014>Textbook Adoption Documents.


3. Complete the survey. After reviewing the textbooks, please complete the survey and return it to the envelope provided.


Adoption materials are located in each lead teachers room.

Professional Development: What Great Teachers Do Differently! AND PRINCIPALS, TOO!

EDMODO QUESTION #1: What is it that determines, in the eyes of the students and parents, whether or not a school is great?


JOURNAL QUESTION #1: Think of a program that has been implemented in the last few years. Did teachers adapt to the change, did they embrace it? Did any teachers resist the change? Was the program deemed a success? What determined whether or not it was successful?

Verification: A district team will come to verify writing samples this week.


TELPAS READING: ELL students in grades 2-4 will be taking the TELPAS reading test the week of March 17. Ms. Mary Hernandez and Ms. Valeria Rodriguez are the assigned test administrators. Please click here to see your class specific day for this assessment. THE COMPUTER LAB WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 17 !!! Please make sure students are quiet around the computer lab during these days.


DCAs and Practice Assessments: Mark your calendars. ISTs and specialists, please be available these days to provide necessary accommodations.

Parents/guardians must have their car tags at all times! If they do not have the car tag; then please ask the person to sign-out their student from the office with their driver's license or government-issued picture ID.
