Northwood Update

JANUARY 2023
Happy New Year, Northwood Family!
We hope that you and your family had a restful holiday. It's hard to believe that the end of the 1st semester is next Friday. Northwood is busy this month with our new Wellness Wednesdays, starting on January 4th, incentive field trips later this month for students who meet our PBIS expectations, and our 1st semester awards ceremony for 5th and 6th grade. (7th and 8th grade, we've got your ceremony scheduled for early February!) Check the Dates to Remember below for specific days and times.
As always, please reach out to us at 440/284-8016 with any questions.
Stay warm and stay well,
Brenda Wittman and Michael Basinski
Northwood Middle School Principals

Vaping Awareness
The use of vaping devices is becoming more prevalent in our school. Students have been found with vapes that are used for tobacco as well as marijuana. As time goes by, manufacturers are disguising these devices so that it is becoming difficult to determine whether items confiscated are designed for use with tobacco or marijuana. While we realize that the use of both tobacco and marijuana vaping devices is becoming more accepted for use in our society, it remains illegal for our students to use these devices. Additionally, the use of either tobacco or marijuana while in school is concerning. Please continue to be our partners in helping to educate our students. More information regarding helpful resources will be coming soon.
Middle School Dismissal Procedures
Student safety is our upmost priority. In order to ensure student safety, please follow the established traffic patterns and arrival/dismissal procedures:
- All Northwood Campus traffic is one way, clockwise around the campus using the circular road
- Traffic entering from Rosalee must follow the circular road around the building in the clockwise direction; please do not turn right into the middle school parking lot from this entrance
- Car riders are picked up in the car rider line that circles the campus; all students will wait in front of the middle school for their ride
- Please use only one line of traffic to pick up your student
- Please stay alert and avoid texting as you drive on campus
- As the busses exit the campus, cars will be directed forward and students will be reminded to look for their car
- Students have been instructed to wait for their ride on the school curb and to not walk/run through the busses into the parking lot
