A Message From Dr. Ricks
Parents and Friends,
Happy May! We are finishing up another wonderful week, and the students have been so happy and joyful in the midst of several spring celebrations. Our 4th graders celebrated one of our greatest GES traditions, The Medieval Feast. Six long weeks of building castles, learning dances, and writing research reports culminated in a magnificent event in Kilbourne which was transformed into a Medieval dining hall. Many thanks to Mrs. Riley, Mrs. Coley, and Mrs. Knight for planning this wonderful learning experience and to all of the parents who volunteered their time to put the event together.
The Aloha pep rally was fantastic as we said goodbye to the exceptional Class of 2017. Congratulations to our rising 6th grade cheerleaders who performed for the first time! Girls and Dads had a great time at the dance last night and today, we enjoyed lovely weather and had a blast at Field Day. Thank you to Coach Blackman for such careful planning of the event. The classrooms are full of lovely gifts that your children are making in honor of Mother's Day, and spirits are high as we get closer to summer vacation. How blessed we are. Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,
Dr. Beth J. Ricks

Church News
Save the Date: Crawfish Communion and End of Year Blessing
Grace Episcopal Church will host its third annual Crawfish Communion (with End of Year Blessing for Teachers and Students) on Sunday May 21st—there will be only one service that day: 10.15am. There will be fun for all. Prices for tickets and t-shirts are in the works. Keep an eye out for more information.
Graduation Recognition
On Sunday, May 21st, at our 10.15am service, we would like to recognize those graduating from eighth grade, high school, college, and graduate school. We will list graduates names, school from which they are graduating, and their post-graduation plans (work or school). Please send graduate information to Angie (secretary@gracechurchmonroe.org) at the church office by Monday, May 15th.
Theology on Tap
Our next Theology on Tap will be held at the Ouachita Brewing Company on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6:00pm. Join us for a discussion of relative, contemporary, and practical topics with a Christian perspective, all while sharing a pint of Monroe’s own micro-brewed lager. Space is limited, so sign up on our Facebook page. See you there!
New Bible Study Class
Starting Sunday, May 14th , Fr. Michael will begin a class on Paul’s letter to the Philippians. By studying this short letter by St. Paul to a young church, we get to witness how he has worked out a “wonderful, many-colored picture of what Jesus achieved, of God’s worldwide plan and how it all works out in the lives of ordinary people.” To help us in our study we will be using N. T. Wright’s, For Everyone Bible Study Guide: Philippians. Grace Church will purchase several copies of the book which you may then purchase from us. The cost of the book is $7.66. Please contact the Church office if you would like a book.
Living Compass Class
A class on "Wellness in Relationships" will be taught for four weeks beginning April 30th and continuing on May 7th, 14th, and 21st. It will begin at 9:15 in the Grace School conference room, and child care will be provided. This class was taught during the winter at the same time as the parenting class, and several people have asked for it to be repeated. Grab a cup of coffee and a donut ....all are welcome!
