Facts about it
The Serengeti is about 12,000 sq. miles. In Maasai language it means endless plains. The Serengeti is located in north Tanzania and southwestern Kenya. The temperature there is usually warm and dry. The two rainy seasons are March to May and October to November.
Geographical Features
In the Northeast there is a mountain range that is mainly volcanic. Two rivers are the middle of the Serengeti, they are the Grumeti and Mbalageti that usually contain water. In the south they are open grass plain.
Vegetation
The savanna is scattered with many acacia trees. The whistling thorn is also a common tree that has many thorns. Most of the vegetation in the Serengeti is short grasses, bushes and trees.
