CAFETERIA REDESIGN - PHASE TWO
Halfway to Go!
We are halfway to finishing our cafeteria redesign. Our amazing PTO has donated money to purchase LCD projectors for each cafeteria and we are waiting for their arrival. The generous donations by families and staff have allowed us to begin to beautify the space and make it more sensory-friendly.
Please consider donating a piece of art (or acoustic tiles) for our Phase Two Cafeteria Redesign. Your family's name will be displayed next to the art to acknowledge your kindness and generosity. (*Additional acoustic tiles are needed to further absorb the sound during lunch in the cafeteria, which will make it a more sensory-friendly experience for our students.)
To sign up to donate, please visit SignUp Genius at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C45ACA728A3FA7-part
You may have art or tiles sent directly to our school or drop it off at the main office: Cedar Grove Elementary; 173 Cedar Grove Road, Toms River, NJ 08753; Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
We appreciate your support of our school improvement efforts!
FROM YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR -- Miss DiNardo
Managing Stress...
The CVS website offered an article on managing holiday stress in their November 10, 2021 email. Their tips are relevant all year long. Here are the highlights. - - -
Emotional stresses can cause physical problems: stomach aches, headaches, heart disease. Try to form these healthy habits to fight harmful effects of stress, and take better care of yourself. -
1. Be mindful - Identify your feelings, then try to “let it go”.
2. Talk to your loved ones - Relationships can be both a source of stress, and a defense against it. Use “I” statements that allow you to own your feelings.
3. Find positive coping habits - Rather than smoking or binge eating, try taking a walk, yoga, meditation. Visit with friends and family in person.
4. Get help processing negative emotions - Talk to a counselor or a good friend to sort through memories or feelings you don’t know how to resolve.
It is very important to -
- Name your feelings
- Communicate how you feel
- Have an outlet to release negativity
Wishing you a healthy new year - in mind and body!
GIVE A BOOK, GET A BOOK!
Sharing the love of literacy...
We will be collecting gently used children's books from Tuesday, 1/18/22 through Friday, 1/28/22. If you are clearing out any closets or shelves at home, please consider donating chapter books, picture books and/or informational texts. You can drop them off anytime during school hours.
Books will be labeled "Give a Book, Get a Book" and placed on shelves in A and B foyers. Students can feel free to peruse the shelves and choose any books that interest them! Students may keep these books, or return them to pass along to another "Proud Patriot."
Thank you for helping us foster a love of reading!
TRRS Covid GUIDELINES
Supporting the health and safety of our building...
As we continue to navigate and adjust to the changes in guidelines, we will be sensitive to the individual needs of our students. We appreciate your support and look forward to a time (hopefully soon) when we can truly put this pandemic behind us!
