The Star
Ruby Bridges - where the STARS come to shine!
Translation available!
Hello from the principal's desk!
September 21, 2018
Happy Friday!
I would like to take a second to thank members of the Ruby Bridges PTA for holding the second Parent Cafe this morning. We had about 30 parents hang out after drop off for a quick pastry, a cup of coffee, and a chat. Mr. Lundholm and I were both there, and really enjoyed hearing all the great things going on at our school! Please make sure to come to the next one, look for an announcement and a note in the paper copy of The Star going home next week.
Speaking of PTA, have you visited the PTA Facebook page? They have all the announcements, pictures of events, and our community there. Can you at least "like" the page and leave a nice comment? :)
In other news, we have an important election to make here at the school. I have been soliciting names for our School Site Council, and have a great group of people that have been nominated, or nominated themselves. What is School Site Council you might be wondering? SSC is half RBE families, half RBE staff, and is tasked with approving our overall school budget and setting goals for our school. Please take a quick second and vote for our parent leaders on School Site Council by going here - https://goo.gl/forms/zJVJZFB3DZtpScWw1. We have three open slots and three family members nominated. Perfect!
Also, do you have a company business that you would like to advertise? We are looking for sponsors for the PTA Dance-a-thon shirts. Corporate or family sponsors can get their names printed on the t-shirts for a sponsor fee. Look for paperwork coming out next week with more information. If you are interested in sponsoring the shirts, you can send an email to Mr. Woodward (jwoodward@alamedaunified.org) or Karen Bane PTA president (kcbane@gmail.com).
Please scroll down through the rest of our newsletter! Check out the Friday video below that Mr. Lundholm and I make, a podcast with an awesome parent ed program, a flyer about an adult school class and so much more! I also have a contest that NO ONE entered the last time I sent this out. Trying again, please email me or text me through Remind!
With gratitude,
Jesse Woodward
