Idaho's unemployment

Big image
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in June 2015 that Idaho's unemployment rate is at a low of 4.0. What this means is that there are more people working. The good news is that there are also more positions opening up. The job market continues to be highly competitive for these positions because now those that have been working, but may have been underemployed, are looking for new opportunities.

Don't fret! You have many opportunities available to increase your relevancy and competitiveness in your industry.

1. Continue to learn
Utilize the opportunity to audit classes from your program. This will help keep your skills sharp and current.

2. Certify
Third party certifications help to show employers that you retained knowledge from
your classes and truly know what you say you know.

3. Utilize Career Services
Career Services is a benefit that doesn't go away. Utilize your Career Advisor to help
you create a LinkedIn profile, establish an effective job search strategy, update your resume and cover letter and make connections with employers and individuals within your industry.

Busy Summer Days!

This summer has been a busy one! We have been given the opportunity to show our appreciation to Alumni and Students through an alumni/student appreciation BBQ, a Cinco de Mayo Taco Feed, celebrate with those who have shown educational excellence at the Dean's and President's Celebration as well as with those individuals who have completed their GED.
