How to Prepare Properly for a Juice Fast
Juice fasting is done by people for various purposes and it includes surviving only on juices with no solid food intake. A juicing diet helps the body get rid of harmful toxins and to revive and get refreshed. Some people purposely do it for weight loss too. There are certain aspects to be considered before you start on a juice diet schedule. Let us see some important things that help you get prepared for a proper juice fast.
Best time to fast: Experts only recommend doing a juice fast during the summer season or warmer months. Thus, spring may be the best time to go for it.
Groundwork diet: A week before you start the juice cleanse, make sure not to consume any alcohol or alcoholic beverages, dairy products, wheat, meat, caffeine and nicotine. Get on a lighter diet that includes beans, fruits and veggies. This helps your body system adapted for a fast.
Purchases: Be prepared to drink around 32-64 oz. of juice each day during the fast. So, get your shopping done accordingly. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables in ample amount as you are not going to drink any canned juice or other types of juices available in the grocery store. Get yourself some carrots, spinach, celery, kale, beet, tomatoes, pineapple, apples, oranges, cranberry, and similar vegetables and fruits that can be easily squeezed to extract juices.
Types of fruits and vegetables: You should opt for organic fruits and vegetables, while if these are not available, then make sure you peel off the skin of vegetables and fruits or clean them using a non-toxic cleaner (available at a nourishment store) before taking out their juice. Also, you should have filtered water available to be consumed during the fast. In addition of that, you should pick up and consume fruits and vegetables in a blend. That means, you should not be selective about 1-2 fruits as these would restrict your nutrition. Get a healthy mix of all kinds of fruits and vegetables that you may grab and like. It helps in creating juices that are full of vitamins and other nutrients.
Get medical advice: If you face any medical conditions, such as diabetes, consult your doctor before going on a juice fast. Juices are sugary and may interfere with our problem. It is recommended to go for medical advice in any case before starting your juice fast as it may not suit every individual.
After-fasting diet control: Be ready to control your diet after completing your fast. Do not munch on junkies or rock solid foods immediately after finishing the fast. Start light by consuming raw fruits and salads and slowly start including protein sources in your diet.
