Meet Your Counselor
Hi there! I have met many of you online already. I am so excited to be your counselor this year! A little about me, I am from Florida. I graduated from Bethune Cookman University and Emory University. I like laughing, reading, and going to the beach. I have 2 little kids, ages 3 and 8. This is my 11th year as an elementary school counselor. It is my first year at GCA. We're going to have a great year together and I look forward to working with you!

Character Education Word for January: Self Control
Congrats to these students for showing Self-Control!!!
Student: Laney Thames
Recommended by: Melissa Cowart
If someone gets off topic in the chat box, she is always encouraging them to stay focused on the topic at hand.
Student: Emma Courson
Recommended by: Patti Martin
She was nervous about getting on the microphone but not she has courage and gets on the microphone and participates greatly. She always tries to do her best.
Student: Owen Mulholland
Recommended by: Nicole Owens
Owen always demonstrates self-control in our live class connect sessions! He is always a willing participant in our class discussions, and always has a kind word for his classmates. Owen is a wonderful student and a young man full of character!
Student: Jabrea Williams
Recommended by: Tammy Childree
Jabrea provides a good example to her peers. She does not chit chat in the chatbox when it is not time. She shows respect for her teacher and classmates by following the rules in class.
Student: Deborah "Lanie" Adamson
Recommended by: Laura Johnston
Lanie is never afraid to try something new! 5th grade math is tough, and she is always willing to come to the board and try, even if it means making a mistake for herself and others to learn from. She is so encouraging of her classmates when they are courageous, too. Lanie is a great role model for her peers!
Recommended by: Susan Robertson
Lanie is a very sweet girl who LOVES GCA and is an active participant in my classroom. She is always friendly, encouraging, and loves to give positive feedback to other students. She always show self- control and is well liked by her teachers and classmates
Student: Khary Wright
Recommended by: Prescher
Khary comes to every single live CC session even though he is on flex status. He is always ready to learn and always gives me his best effort every class!
Student: Adonia Stegall
Recommended by: Lisa Clements
Adonia stays focused during both CC sessions and small groups. When we are in break out rooms and someone is following the directions, Adonia does and shows great self-control.
Student: Rhianna Beamon
Recommended by: Tasha Criswell
Rhianna is always participating in class but is mindful of her classmates. She gives others opportunities to show what they know, as well.
Student: Alexander Collins
Recommended by: Allison Godowns
Alex has shown self-control in my classroom through his participation on the microphone and only speaking when asked to do so. He is an active participant in my class and is encouraging to his classmates.
Student: Jaydon Walker
Recommended by: Janet Vaughan
Jaydon always supports his school family on the mic and in the chat. He is respectful of me as the teacher and of his classmates.
Student: Makai Hassell
Recommended by: Stacey Lutes
Makai has a very good understanding of this character trait. He constantly loves to share in class and during our 1:1 sessions examples of right/wrong. I am impressed with how he shares good examples in class as well.
Student: Marshall Longshore
Recommended by: Keris Armstrong
Marshall does a wonderful job of showing self-control in my ELA classes. If a student is off task, Marshall does not jump on board but rather continues to pay attention and participate fully.
Student: Kelis Brown
Recommended by: Kara Bridgers
Kelis is always doing what we ask of her. When other students are playing with the tools or trying to private chat during class, Kelis shows amazing self-control and continues to listen to the lesson.
