November 30th, 2018 #Work Hard, Poupard!
Dear Poupard Families,
Meeting with Teachers Protocol
I've noticed that we've had a few parent visitors either at the start or the end of the school day that wanted to meet with a teacher unannounced. We at Poupard encourage parents to ask questions or share concerns that they may have or want to make their child's teacher aware of. We're requesting that families schedule times to meet with their learners teacher by either emailing them directly or calling the Poupard office and leaving a message with the office staff. We're asking for this because teachers organize lesson plans for each day and consider the time allotments very carefully. By scheduling a meeting or discussion in advance, we will help reduce any interruptions to your child's classrooms learning day. Our staff is extremely accommodating and wants to answer your questions while honoring the learning time of other students. Thank you for assisting us by meeting these expectations moving forward and for partnering with us to support your child!
Morning Computer Lab Time
Starting Tuesday, December 4th, Poupard will be opening up it's Computer Lab each week from (Tuesday-Friday) before school from (7:45-8:15) for students that would like to arrive early and work on their math or reading skills using one of our online resources (Compass Learning, Imagine Learning, Freckle, Reflex or Lexia).
Our school goal is for 100% of Poupard students to make growth in math each NWEA testing cycle. One of the ways we'd like to reach this goal is by having students regularly use these online programs which provide targeted learning at each individual students level. Studies show students that regularly use these tools are 2.3 times more likely to accelerate academically in math.
If you're learner is interested in attending, they will need to check-in at the office and grab a lanyard before reporting to the computer lab. Students may grab a breakfast from our gym and eat it upstairs in the computer lab while learning simultaneously. Sounds like a win win!
Please note, the lab does have limited seating and will only be able to accommodate the first 25 students that attend.
We're all here to support your learners. Please be sure to schedule a time via email or by calling the office.

Notes from the Office Staff
BRR It's Cold...Preparing for Winter
Poupard students go outdoors for recess two times each day throughout the school year unless it is raining hard or the wind chill is below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure that your child leaves for school dressed properly for the weather. All students must have boots and snowpants to play on the wood chips, field and gaga ball court once the snow is on the ground—otherwise they must stay on the blacktop.
Students may build things (snowmen, fort, snow angels, etc) with the snow but are not permitted to throw snow or ice while on Poupard grounds. This will help all the students enjoy the joy of snow.
We also ask that you write your child’s name on his/her gloves, hats, boots, and
coat. Our Lost and Found quickly fills up!
Thank you!!!
