LaCreole Distance Learning Update
2020
Locker Clean Out Information
We know everyone is anxious to retrieve items from their lockers. With social distancing, this will be challenging but we have two days scheduled to make this as easy as possible. These days will also be a time to return all textbooks, ELA books, and library books.
A few things to expect for locker content pick-up and textbook return:
Students and/or families will NOT be allowed to enter the building. Per Governor Brown, all schools are to remain closed.
Lockers will be emptied, bagged and sealed in advance to help speed up the process. This includes PE and sports lockers.
When you arrive at the school, you’ll be asked to return all school property (textbooks, library books, ELA reading books, etc).
Staff will retrieve the student’s bag with the corresponding locker items and bring these items to your car.
You’ll be asked to look through the bag and return any school property that may have been in the locker.
If you’re a 6th grader who shares a locker, you’ll need to go through your bag to separate items that aren’t yours. We’ve set aside a special date and time for 6th grade, as the process will take a little longer. We’ll have a designated space for you to safely do this.
Please remember, the entire process will take time and wait times could be high. We ask for everyone’s understanding and patience as we work through the process.
Dates:
Thursday, April 23 - 9 a.m. to Noon - 6th GRADERS ONLY!
Friday, April 24- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. - All Students
Book Return:
Please bring all books that are property of LaCreole Middle School. This includes textbooks, ELA reading books and library books. If you have questions about what books you have checked out, please email Mrs. Shryer at linda.shryer@dsd2.org. She has a list and can help you determine what books you still have.
Distance Learning Packet Materials
Packet Pickup Process:
- For our families with unreliable internet, we will have packets on hand each week.
- We will utilize Whitworth Elementary as our packet pick up center. This will be in conjunction with the free lunch and breakfast program.
- Packets will be accessible at Whitworth Elementary, Fridays and Mondays from 11:00 to 12:30.
- If you or someone you know is in need of a packet for their student but cannot arrange to pick up during this time please email Heather our office manager at heather.irwin@dsd2.org or call the school at 503-623-6662.

Join In On Our Enrichment Activities: CATFLIX!
Distance Learning Elective & Wheel Activities
This "CATFLIX" website provides menu choices of enrichment lessons for all grades including most elective, wheel, and PE classes.
Each week you will be asked to select 2-3 activities from the category options below to complete at home. Of these selected activities, one should be from Fitness.
Your advisory teacher will check in with you the following week and ask about the progress of your chosen tasks. A weekly passing grade will be assigned once you have summarized the completion of at least two tasks. You do NOT need to submit or turn in your work with this system.
However, if you have access to a device and have chosen an activity where a product can be displayed, you are encouraged to SHARE what you have created in Seesaw. Simply log in with your school Google account. We want to celebrate what you're doing!
This website will be updated with additional choices and tasks every two weeks.
Student Device Support
STUDENT DEVICES
The School District has loaned out nearly 900 devices to students in the last week (I KNOW, RIGHT?!?). If a student has a problem with a borrowed Chromebook, please direct them or their parents to contact Student Tech Support at:
eMail: StudentTechnology@dsd2.org
Phone: 503-917-4890
Both methods will generate a ticket in our support system and will receive a response within one business day from Technology. Tech Support will be able to troubleshoot device problems remotely, or if necessary, may ask a student or parent to return the device to the District Office for a replacement by appointment only. Please do not direct them to just show up at the District Office or other buildings. Contact Tech Support via Phone or eMail first!
If a student has a need for a Chromebook, we are looking at possible checkout dates in the near future, or scheduling appointments at the District Office on a case-by-case basis. This will all depend on the number of devices we have available after this week. Let us know if this comes up in your class groups. Note: We only have Chromebooks available for checkout.
Last Chance to Purchase a Yearbook
We will have a yearbook this year!
Due in part to the work our yearbook team did prior to school closure and Mrs. Schilling's commitment to finish this year's edition, we will be able to meet the deadline to get it to print.
Yearbooks- Are able to be ordered online at http://ypay.lifetouch.com.
Use yearbook ID code: 13473520
The deadline to order is Friday, April 24th, 2020.
We are developing a plan to ensure yearbooks get into the hands of our students. This will likely be in early June. Thanks for your patience.
