Hard Disk

What is a Hard Disk? And Facts!
It is a data storage device. It is used for storing and receiving data using rotating disks called platters coated with magnetic material.
It stores the data permanently. Also it retains its data even when powered off. The casing of the hard disk is air tight so nothing can get in or out! Hard disks are more faster than floppy disks.
Hard drive consists of the following components: The head actuator, read/write actuator arm, read/write head, spindle and platter. As seen below.
What does it look like?

The outside all metal so it is all protected.

This is the programming that makes it store and receive data.

External and Internal Hard Drives
Most hard drives are internal hard drives, but many people use external hard drives to back up their data on their computer and expand the amount of space available to them. External drives are usually stored in an enclosure that helps protect the drive.
