(2nd Week) Japanese 1 - Lesson 9
For the Week of April 4 - 8, 2016
This Week's Assignments
NOTICE A CHANGE IN THE DUE DATES THIS WEEK!! WE ARE SPENDING ANOTHER WEEK ON LESSON 9 TO LET EVERYONE GET CAUGHT UP ^_^
KATAKANA
Since we don't have any new characters to learn this week, please spend time reviewing the hiragana and the katakana you have already learned. These are easy to forget if you don't use them. Please find ways to read and write them each week to help you remember them. You need to be able to read them for coaching sessions and on your quizzes, so please work hard on these.

***** SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY IN JAPAN!!! *****
iCLA is proud to announce scholarship opportunities for international students. The final deadline is April 20 for the 2016 Fall Enrollment, so it would be wonderful if you could introduce this opportunity to your students interested in studying in Japan. Please check the details on our website:

iCLA is the four-year, residential, all-English, liberal arts college, fully accredited by Japan’s Ministry of Education. We do not require Japanese fluency to applicants, but we offer extensive Japanese Language Programs with highly experiential Japan Studies Programs including Japanese Anime & Manga, Japanese martial arts, and so on. It is an ideal destination to whom wants to learn liberal arts in Japan.
LANGUAGE COACHING
Japanese language coaching is an important (and required) component of this online class. Students should be registered for sessions that meet two times per week. Students are required to attend these sessions and their participation is graded. If a student has not attended a session, that time can be made up in 1 of two ways. Go to Blackboard Collaborate, then Recordings, then set the dates for the date range you wish to find. Locate your missed session, listen to the archive, and send an email with a summary of what was covered along with 3 sentences in Japanese that were practiced. OR, if you know in advance you cannot attend the session, please try to attend a different coach's session. The alternate coach will notify me of your participation and you will receive full credit (minus any deductions for arriving late or not being prepared).
Peer Tutoring Center
Contact the PTC by clicking on the link on the left in the course (not "on top" as it says in the image below). If you should need assistance with Japanese or with taking an online course in general, there are students just like you waiting to help!
