There is Still Time to Donate!
Arizona law allows schools to accept tax credit donations through April 15th and still claim this on your prior years taxes. Please consider making a tax credit donation to help support students with the costs of AP testing, field trips, and extra-curricular activities. Without your support costs are deferred to the student.
Goal: Increase Academic Proficiency
The above picture shows you the grade distribution for all students at MHS. Our students, overall, are doing fantastic work! I am also attaching our D & F data as this is provides us evidence in meeting our goal of Increasing Academic Proficiency. Progress was made at the 11th and 12th grade level, but our 9th and 10th grade students continued to demonstrate challenges. Our goal was to see a 2% drop is the number of F's by end of semester.
Over the last two years I have worked with several students who are experiencing academic challenges. My experience and observations show evidence that many time these grades are a product of skill vs will, with will (or lack their of) winning every time. We have great minds at MHS and we will continue to implement strategies to support the "will" of academic success; organizational strategies and Cornell notes are two areas of professional development that teachers/students will be exposed to.
The MHS Professional Development team is also beginning their brainstorming on a Freshman Academy to support a better transition from middle school to high school.
MHS Parents Rock!
On behalf of MHS, we want to thank everyone who donated a gift card to our staff. This is a yearly tradition supported by our Parent Advisory and wouldn't be possible without your help.
