Vanderbilt Panhellenic
6th Edition
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break, and is just as excited as I am to step in to the glory of the holiday season! But first, we must survive finals...
The most important things for you this week are:
- ASRT Makeup today (details below)
- Submit absences for formal recruitment - you can submit an absence application here. It is due by December 15th, no exceptions.
- Submit appeals by December 28th by midnight (details below).
- Be aware that you are required to be at a meeting on January 8th at 6pm or 7pm - so be back on campus before that. You do NOT get to choose which meetings (details below).
- Submit a question or concern here anonymously! We really want to hear from you and what you're wondering about! We don't collect names or even contact info from this form, so don't worry.
- Email me allergies & other medical/accessibility concerns!
- Alcohol EDU make-up session (Dec 8 @ 5:30pm for A-H last names and 7pm for I-Z at 7pm in SLC Board of Trust) - if you did not attend the August session

- Jan 8 evening - Pre-Recruitment Meeting (6 and 7pm, by GX group)
- Jan 9 all day - Display Round
- Jan 10 all day - Philanthropy Round
- Jan 15 early evening - late night - Entertainment Night
- Jan 16 afternoon - Pre-preference Meeting
- Jan 16 evening - Preference Round

Other Recruitment Reminders
- Be courteous to all. Being a member is a privilege, not a right. Do not act poorly, rudely, or unkindly in anyway. We will hear about it, and it is grounds for immediate release.
- Other grounds for release: missing any part of a recruitment round, drinking anytime during formal recruitment, being on fraternity property, not maximizing options, etc.
- Don't overthink what you're wearing (Pinterest here if you want ideas, but you do you) - we're looking to recruit wonderful people, not wonderful outfits! :)
- Look for the chapter that fits you, not your friends or your family. You're the one who's going to be a member for a lifetime, not them.
- This is an individual journey. Don't worry about how many chapters you're going to and don't compare.
- Have fun!

Pre-Recruitment Meeting
There is a meeting at 6pm and 7pm. You do NOT get to choose which meeting you will be at. You will be assigned based on your Gamma Chi group. It is up to you to make sure you are back in time for your assigned meeting. I advise that you be back on campus by 5pm at the latest to make sure you are not late for this crucial meeting.

Absence Policy During Recruitment
- It is due December 15th by midnight for Formal Recruitment absences.
- Your application will be reviewed and you will notified if your absence(s) is(are) excused by the Pre-recruitment meeting January 8th for Formal Recruitment Absences.
- How seriously do we take attendance during Formal Recruitment Rounds? Panhellenic closely monitors which rounds PNM's go to throughout the day during recruitment in January. So, you cannot secretively miss one round -- it will be recorded, and you will have to report to Panhellenic to discuss your absence.
- What will happen if I am considered excused? Panhellenic will tell the chapters that you are formally excused, so they will have the option to offer you a courtesy invitation or not. Being excused is not a guarantee; however, it significantly heightens the likelihood of getting invited back to the next round. If you don't show up, no one has to invite you back.
- What will happen if I am considered unexcused? If you are considered unexcused and miss anyway, it is grounds for release from the recruitment process.
Academic Appeals Process: Overview
The appeals application is live on Anchorlink now and is due by December 28th by midnight. **If you think you might have to appeal, have your appeal drafted before the 28th so you're not late getting it in. Grades will be finalized by December 21st, and you must turn it in soon after.
