Welcome to MLMS for the 2020-2021 School Year!

Hello Future Coyotes,

I am sure our current circumstances are not exactly how you pictured finishing the last quarter of this school year. I know it is definitely not what I had in mind!! At the same time, I am extremely proud of my school, staff, students and families who are making the best out of a very difficult situation and are taking it one day at a time.

Even though we are currently not able to host our typical parent night or student tours, I wanted to make sure that you knew Mirror Lake is still thinking about our incoming students and are excited to welcome them next year. In May, we will share a video covering many topics as a means to introduce the basics of being a Coyote. Then in August, we will hold a parent meeting along with our traditional Camp Coyote student induction program. More information including times and dates will be provided along with our video.

However, we do need one piece of information from you as we plan schedules for next year. As you may know, 6th graders take a year of music and we need your student's musical preference. Options at MLMS include: Band, Orchestra, Choir and Piano/Keyboarding. Learn more about the instruments played in Band and Orchestra below. Please do not purchase or rent an instrument until you have attended class and received further direction from your teacher.

Please use this link and complete the quick survey with your 6th grader so we know which music class they would like. The Google Form requires students to utilize their ASD username and password.

Band instruments students can play in Beginning Band at MLMS:

Alto Saxophone

Other, more challenging instruments can be added but require conversation with family.

F Horn

Percussion is audition only with preference given to students with piano experience.

In orchestra, students can learn:

Thank you for taking this step to assist us in preparing for next year. I appreciate your time and look forward to getting to know your family this Fall.
