Are Students Juuling In Your Classroom
Pirate Presence Attendance Campaign
Thank you all for trying to get your attendance marked in SIS each hour. We are a team and need to keep watch over our Pirates.
We have fun stuff planned for the student body for our #PiratePresence Campaign! We want them to take SELFIES while in school, and post them to Twitter and Instagram, tagging the HS accounts (@PCHShalls) and use #PiratePresence. Weekly Mrs. Theis and Mrs. Frame will pick from those students who post and they will win a prize! The expectation is that we are taking selfies before and after school, at lunch or during passing time.
"Platte Country Homecoming"
SOS - Signs of Suicide Prevention Program
On Tuesday, October 2nd, Platte County High School will offer depression awareness and suicide prevention training as a part of the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program. This program aims to help students recognize the symptoms of depression and warning signs of suicide in themselves or their friends and to teach them the appropriate action steps they should take to get help. Our goals in participating in this program are straightforward:
- To reduce stigma and help our students understand that depression is a treatable mental illness.
- To explain that suicide is a preventable tragedy that often occurs as a result of untreated depression.
- To provide students training in how to identify serious depression and potential suicidality in themselves or a friend.
- To impress upon youth that they can help themselves or a friend by taking the simple step of talking to a responsible adult about their concerns.
- To help students know whom in the school they can turn to for help if they need it.
Teachers who will be facilitating this program have received manila envelopes with all of the information and forms needed to implement this program. Attached and listed below is a list of alternate location assignments. Teachers whose PLT class will be meeting in an alternate location need to be sure to inform their students of this alternate location arrangement prior to Tuesday. A list of students whose parents have completed the opt-out form will be sent Tuesday morning. After taking attendance, these opt-out students need to report to the Library where an accounting of their presence will also be taken again by the Librarians. If a student becomes upset during the presentation and is unable to remain in the classroom, please send the student to the Library (main building teachers) or the Paxton Office (Paxton teachers), where someone will be prepared to help them.
More information about an alternative bell schedule for this day will be provided soon.
Thank you, again, for your assistance in making this program a success! We couldn't do this without all of you!!!
Leaving the Building
If you will be out of the building or leaving early for these things, please let Bobbie know.
Here is a link PCHS Staff Coverage to a calendar for staff accepting coverage for coaching, meetings and such.
If you get an invitation and you will be out that day, please add this coverage to your sub plans because they will be covering that class.
If you are covering and you do not see it listed or you have coverage, please make sure you notify me or send a notification to PCHS Staff Coverage from Google Calendar, so it can be placed on the calendar.
Aesop is not working for the coaching due to the inability to select only one or two hours, so hopefully, this will eliminate the need for followup when processing payroll. So you do not need to enter it currently in Aesop unless it is a full or half day.
Also, please remember when you cover for payable coverage reasons (coaching, meetings, lack of sub availability) you add a note when clocking of who you are covering for.
I want to ensure that staff covering for these reasons are being paid. Also if they forget and your class has no teacher, I will know who should have been in there for you.
In addition, if you are covering for someone, and it is not on the bulletin in SIS of subs for the day, please notify Bobbie.
Thank you for assisting us keeping track, so we can make sure you all receive compensation for your time.
(make sure you sign back in if you return)
