After School Learning Opportunity
We are excited to announce Upshur County Schools has hired, Mrs. Marlena Reed, 3rd grade teacher, and Ms. Jordon Barr, CIS, as after school learning teachers for 2 hours per week at Hodgesville Elementary School.
The purpose of this FREE learning program is to work with 20 – 30 students in grades K – 5 who can quickly recover skills and close learning gaps formed during the chaos of last year.
Our program is set up to provide an hour of FREE after school learning in Math and Reading for K-2 and an hour of after school learning for 3 – 5. Students will work with Mrs. Reed and Ms. Barr using Dreambox, a challenging computer activity, for Math and SIIPS Reading Intervention. Students will be provided support in both subjects by the teachers based on assessment data.
We have provided invitations to students based on STAR scores and teacher recommendation.
If you did not receive a letter and would be interested in this opportunity for your child, we would be happy to add them to a waiting list. Just let Mrs. Phillips know!
