Here's What's Happening at Milan Elementary School
December Students of the Month are Responsible!
During the month of December, teachers were watching for students who could be counted on to do what was asked of them and could be relied on to act sensibly in carrying out directions and assignments.
The following students were identified as being very responsible:
Kindergarten: Nathan Frankenberry, Hayden Poole, Brinley Livingston, Madison Finn.
First Grade: J. J. Mutz, Kaitlynn Hicks, Abigail Carpenter.
Second Grade: Sydney Batten, Nevaeh Taylor, Kayden McClellan, Aydin Fullmer.
Third Grade: Kate Prifogle, Alexa Yeomans, Nathan Voss, Joshua Fryman.
Fourth Grade: Emma Rapier, Bradley Drew, Collin O’Brien, Sarah Lillis, DeAnn Egbert.
Fifth Grade: Blake Dell, Brandon Bentley, Jordan Mathews.
SEVERE WEATHER - SCHOOL CLOSING REMINDER
If severe weather (snow, low temperatures, power failure, etc.) should make it necessary to close school, those families with a current phone number and/or email address on file will receive an automated message via the school’s “School Messenger” notification system.
In addition, the official closing of school will be announced over local radio and TV stations. Listen to these stations, or check their websites and do not call the building principals at homes, or at the school. This will only interfere with the notification of all other students.
Please talk with your student about what the plan will be in the event that school is dismissed early due to weather conditions. If this is different than the Early Emergency Dismissal form you filled out at the beginning of the school year, be sure to let your child's teacher know the details of the new plan so everyone can be prepared. Remember, this plan should not involve the child calling the parent or the parent calling school. School phone lines must be kept free for emergencies and there is always the possibility that phones service could be disrupted.
Thank you for helping us keep our children safe!
