Wildcats Weekly

Week of 1/11

Math 7

We are continuing to learn about proportional relationships and will apply them to similar figures and scale models this week. The Unit 5 Test is planned for January 22nd.

On Thursday, January 21st, students will take the first quarter Benchmark for math. They will be tested on what they have learned so far this year. Results will be posted on PowerSchool. If your child is absent from school on this day, they will have to make-up the test as soon as they return.

Math 7+

This week we are finishing up Unit 5 with finding slope and writing an equation of a line. The Unit 5 Test will be on Thursday, January 14th. A study to prepare came home today and is due on Wednesday.

ELA

We are currently working on our unit 3 literature circles unit. The students should be spending some time reading and annotating their novels each night, using the guidelines posted on the homework calendar. They are completing reading comprehension tasks and group discussions in class, so it is very important that they stay caught up on the readings.

The final three grades that will be entered into the students' grades this quarter are:

A set of warm-up writing prompts, due Friday.

A passage of the week, due on Wednesday, January 1/13

A visual reading check for characterization, setting, and conflict that we are completing in class.

We completed a mid-year portfolio cleanout. Students should have placed passages of the week, rubrics, quizzes, and tests in their binders. They can use these to study for the Case 21 Benchmark and EOG test at the end of the year. They can also use these as guidelines for future passages of the week and tests. They should not throw anything away until after the quarter ends.

Social Studies

This week we will continue working on the World War I unit. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday.

Science

This week in Science we are finishing up our Weather Unit. We will be learning about severe weather Friday and Monday. We will have a study guide coming home Monday night for the upcoming test on Wednesday. After that we will begin our introduction into Cells and Microscopes!
