Supporting Our PWCS Students 2020-2021
- If your school has an official school YouTube channel, you can record a YouTube video of you reading a counseling-themed story or presenting counseling curriculum, and post it within Canvas.
- You can use standard video recording and post a lesson or presentation within Canvas.
- You can post a PowerPoint or a video of a narrated PowerPoint within Canvas.
- You can post curriculum-based resources for students and parents to view.
- If you are in "the block," you can deliver live lessons during Encore.
- If you are out of "the block," you can partner with a classroom teacher to deliver live lessons during Health/PE, English/Language Arts, etc. Please talk to your administrators and teachers to coordinate this model of delivery.
- You can collaborate with classroom teachers, and co-lead social-emotional learning during classroom meetings.
NOTE: It is important to seek approval from your school administration on lessons and presentations that you would like posted on social media sites.
Flipgrid, Nearpod, and Other Subcription-Based Formats
Some school-based mental health professionals have mentioned the possibility of using the Flipgrid or Nearpod formats for delivering remote resource content. If there is a way to turn off students' sharing of responses with each other, this may be a best practice. As with email correspondence, it would be a best practice to make parents, guardians, and caregivers aware of any uploaded correspondence in these formats.
NOTE: Flipgrid, Nearpod, and other formats require either paid or free subscriptions. Please talk with your building ITC to discuss how using these formats in Canvas impacts your student and parent/guardian population.
