Types of Assessment Tools

There are two primary types of assessments. They are formal and informal. Formal assessments are those that are district or state administered. Informal assessments can include teacher made assessments.

Informal Methods

Questionnaires, probes and checklists can all be a means for assessing student's. Questionnaires can be used to used to evaluate a student's homework habits, such as the type of environment. Probes can be short timed quizzes to measure content mastery. Checklists are lists of academic skills that must be mastered by the student.
