Aphrodite was the goddess of love, beauty, and laughter. She was very beautiful. She was ordered to marry Hephaestus, the god of fire and crafts. They had three children. The names of these children were Eros, Aeneas, and Himeros. Some people believe that she was the daughter of Zeus and Dione, but other people believe that she washed up on a shore fully grown. Athena was said to be Aphrodite's enemy. They once fought over who was more beautiful. Aphrodite won this contest. Aphrodite was in many myths including Aphrodite, Paris, and the Golden Apple, Aphrodite and the Trojan War, and Aphrodite and Ares.
