Knightly Update October 17, 2021
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 13
****************************************************
****************************************************
Welcome to Homecoming Week!! I am excited to be celebrating our first homecoming on our new campus and hope that every student will participate in the week's festivities and spirit days. I want to thank StuGo for the work they put forth in planning and preparing for this week's homecoming events. If you have any questions about any of the week's activities, please contact the office.
At Friday's homecoming football game, we will not only be crowning this year's Homecoming Royalty, but we will also be dedicating and naming our stadium in honor of former Hamilton High School principal, Dr. Fred DePrez. I hope you will come cheer on our Knights, congratulate our Homecoming Royalty, and join in celebrating Dr. DePrez and his vision of offering a smaller high school to the families of CUSD.
This past Friday, I had the pleasure of being shadowed by two students who "won" the opportunity to spend a portion of their day shadowing me and seeing all that takes place in my office and behind the scenes. If time permits, a portion my Friday routine includes writing my opening statement for the week's Knightly Update. This week I have elected to have student principal's Page Riley and Shalini Batra, winners of this fundraiser, contribute to my opening paragraph and share a bit about themselves and what they look forward to about the upcoming homecoming week. I appreciate their help with my administrative duties and enjoyed spending the day with them. As always, please contact me if you have any questions. Happy Homecoming, and Go KNIGHTS!!

Knights in the Spotlight
Congratulations to the following members of the Class of 2022 for being among the 32,000 students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs! These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs use these honors to identify students from underrepresented groups through College Board’s Student Search Service. These students earned this recognition by excelling on their PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams and in their classrooms. Students who may be eligible have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, and Indigenous.

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
