Course Learning Objectives
The focus of this course is on the introduction and application of individual exercise principles to promote posture and overall individual fitness. To accomplish this goal we will be learning about and participating in a number of different types of exercise, with yoga as a foundation. This course includes assessing personal fitness, developing and implementing healthy lifestyle choices and the development of fitness goals to make individual exercise a life-long activity.About the instructor
Yoga and fitness run in my family. Growing up with a mother who owns a yoga studio, I have practiced yoga for over a fifteen years and has held certifications through CorePower Yoga since 2011. I have had the opportunity to practice with many renowned Ashtangi instructors, including the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, David Swenson, David Williams, David Keil, and of course, her mother, Stair. My yoga background coupled with many years as a basketball player, runner, triathlete, and general fitness enthusiast have helped her build an athletic yoga practice. I received my Ph.D. from the School of Kinesiology in 2014, and work full-time as their Director of eLearning + Digital Strategy.
