Duncanville ISD Portrait of A Graduate

The CTE/CCMR and Advanced Academics departments are collaborating to develop a Portrait of A Graduate (POAG). POAG represents a unique, community-owned picture of what graduates need for success.


A POAG committee was formed to help with the work and includes members of the community, K-12 administrators and teachers, students, parents and industry partners. The committee members have met twice and will meet twice more to determine the six key characteristics for Duncanville's POAG and what each characteristic should look like at each grade level, K-12.

5E CTE/CCMR Model

You've heard of the 5E Instructional Model but have you heard of our 5E CTE/CCMR model?


Our 5E model illustrates a progression of CTE/CCMR activities from Pre-K to postsecondary education. As we develop Duncanville's Portrait of A Graduate, committee members will help identify how each characteristic can be incorporated into the 5E activities for each grade level.

CTE Pathways Bright Spots

Collision Repair Students Get Hands-on Training + Industry Credentials

Students in the Collision Repair pathway have had a plethora of real-world opportunities within the collision repair and refinishing industry, from learning how to detail a vehicle, to total vehicle restoration 🚘


Practicum in Transportation - Collision Repair students got a visit from Lord Fusor for help with I-CAR training. I-CAR stands for Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair and is a nonprofit organization that offers industry-recognized certifications for professionals in collision repair.


Back in January, students traveled to the Sherwin Williams Corporate training facility to receive training and certifications in Paint Spray and Color Tint and Matching. The more recent visit covered Plastic Bumper Repair. Students who earn these industry-recognized certifications also earn I-CAR points that are recognized by everyone in the collision repair industry.


Currently, twelve Practicum students have earned at least one I-CAR point and five students have earned three points. But the fun doesn't stop there. Coming up is a class on Metal Bonding and will include repairing a Miata. This hands-on project will yield two I-CAR points for the students along with a Seams and Sealers certificate.


Education & Training Students Advance to State

43 students in the Education and Training pathway participated in the virtual Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) Regional competition. Despite the new virtual format of the competition, 26 students advanced to the annual State competition and will compete March 4-6! πŸŽ‰

CTE Virtual Expo

Like everything else this past year, our annual CTE Expo has gone virtual.

High School CTE Programs with Applications

Did you know that a few of our CTE programs require an application? Students looking to advance in the Health Science, Human Services, Cosmetology and Education and Training pathways need to complete an application. This year, all applications are available online.


Our P-TECH and T-STEM programs are open enrollment but 8th graders looking to join one of the programs should complete the online Interest Form to receive help with enrollment.
