Relay for Life

Thank you to our Captain Lorie Warren for organizing our first team! We raised almost $1,300! Thank you for your support of our team and generous donations.

Our last 8 days

Thank you for supporting a structured learning environment and promoting a positive school climate. We need to communicate that the structure for these last few days is to keep our focus on teaching and learning during finals. When we frame our expectations with a focus on learning, students are able to respond positively to our expectations. We also have the opportunity to build community during lunch by eating in small groups. How we communicate with students will determine their response. You are the right person for the students in your class, today!

Planning on May 17th

We will begin our session with a review of awards. Then, we will complete two surveys: eClass and SAI professional learning. In addition, we will reflect on our eClass journey and identify focus areas for the upcoming school year. Please make sure to meet in the leadership lab during your planning with your laptop.

Permanent Records

Please continue to work in your files to purge and update records. Mrs. Gilbride can provide assistance, as needed.

Promotion & Retention

Please continue to update your worksheets based on current grades and performance on the final exams.

Final Exams count 10% of the student's grade and is a separate category in your gradebook (see JMS Framework). Part B of ELA and Math scores need to be entered by next Monday in Schoolnets. Part B is not recorded in the gradebook for a grade.

Yearbook Signing

The yearbooks are here! We only have a few left to sell. Yearbooks will be distributed by homeroom on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 beginning at 2:30 PM in the media center. Teams can coordinate an on team yearbook signing from designated time on Tuesday. Students are expected to stay on team and rotate as directed by the teachers. Schedule will be finalized this week for Tuesday.

8th Grade Celebration and Graduation

We will have an 8th grade celebration on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. The celebration will begin around 12:30 PM until 3:30 PM. We will have a field day type celebration with a variety of outdoor activities and food for the students. Our celebration will now be "free" to the students, as we will structure the day more like a "walk & talk" activity.

Graduation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 beginning at 10:00 AM in the gym. At the end of the day, we will dismiss with an 8th grade "final parade" throughout the school. We will provide a published "parade route" and your class can make signs/posters to congratulate our graduates!

Summer Planning Dates: June 2 & 3

All content areas have identified June 2 & 3 as their Title I data review, planning, and collaboration time. Due to limited HVAC, we will have assigned areas for our meetings. The majority of the meetings will convene in the media center. Please be prepared to begin no later than 9:00 AM on these dates. Agendas will be provided.

Team Recognition Program

Begin thinking about who you would like to recognize!

Each month, we will recognize team members who exhibit the pillars of Jordan MS: Community, Leadership, and Excellence! Teams can submit up to three names each month. Please include a brief narrative describing how the team member exemplified community, leadership, or excellence. We will celebrate during our vertical team meetings on Fridays!

Communique is the district's communication tool to highlight events in schools, the community, and share vital information. This week's communique highlights CGHS and Magic Wheelchair on the In Five segment.
