Reflecting on God's Goodness
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
We are so thankful for sharing your time, talents and treasures in supporting Sunnybrook Hope Center’s ministry this past year. God’s hand has continued to guide this ministry to expand to reach the under-resourced in our community.
Walk with Me Program:
Life can be hard, and we want people to know they are not alone. The heart of Sunnybrook Hope Center’s services is our Walk with Me program. In 2022, 37 new guests enrolled and took their first steps, alongside 26 new volunteer coaches, to a sustainable future.
Choice Food and Personal Product Pantry:
Hunger is one of the most identified needs in the tri-state area with over 25,000 individuals considered food insecure. However, feeding the hungry is not our main priority. We desire to build relationships with our guests and see transformation take place in their lives, food is just an avenue to begin. 2022, over 403 volunteers served in the Choice Food Pantry to provide 593,080 meals to 12,467 households.
World Vision Warehouse:
In partnership with World Vision, Sunnybrook Hope Center also partners with churches and nonprofit organizations. In 2022, over $800,000 worth of material goods were distributed to bless 29,990 individuals through our 55 church and nonprofit partners.
On behalf of Sunnybrook Hope Center, THANK YOU to each of you for your service, in-kind donations, financial gifts, and, most importantly, your prayers. We are excited to see what God does in 2023!
Saying Yes to God
“A few short years back, I was in the same situation as a lot of the guests that came through the pantry this evening. Before that, I was on the streets struggling to stay alive. On January 12th at 10:03pm in 2018, I fell to my knees and surrendered my life to the Almighty God.
The first time I volunteered was today which is 5 years since I surrendered my life. To see the smiles on a lot of faces, to be able to talk to a few and pray with a few really put a smile on my face as well. Telling a few about my past and to explain to them that I was where they are and to never give up. I definitely plan on volunteering more, alongside my fiancé. I'm still praying when where God wants me to volunteer on Sunday. He will open the door when it comes. Thank you, Sunnybrook Hope Center, and THANK YOU LORD.” Submitted by C.

Sunnybrook Hope Center's 3rd Anniversary
God's Blessings Through the Past 3 Years
Three years ago, Sunnybrook Hope Center opened its doors to care for the under-resourced in Siouxland. Pastor Jeff Moes, Lead Pastor at Sunnybrook Community Church and Sunnybrook Hope Center Board member, shared the history of the Hope Center and prayed over the volunteers, church and nonprofit partner organizations.
Life can be hard, and we want people to know they are not alone. Sunnybrook Hope Center is a safe and welcoming place to receive practical help, be connected to a Christ-centered community, and take steps toward a sustainable future. Our work provides hope by offering guests, volunteers, and organizations an opportunity to encounter Christ and transform lives. Sunnybrook Hope Center offers three primary services.
The heart of Sunnybrook Hope Center’s services is our Walk with Me program. Together, we visit with our guests about their dreams and life-challenges and work to use their God-given strengths to help move forward with their life goals and stability. Over the past 3 years, 91 individuals have made a commitment to taking steps to a sustainable future, walking alongside 121 volunteer coaches.
Sunnybrook Hope Center’s most visible outreach service is the Choice Food and Personal Product Pantry. This pantry provides a wide variety of food and essential products to empower clients to begin to make choices of which groceries and products they would like for their families. The pantry operates on a points system based upon the size of the household. However, feeding the hungry is not our main priority. We desire to build relationships with our guests and see transformation take place in their lives, food is just an avenue to begin. Our Choice Food Pantry is an equal opportunity provider.
Sunnybrook Hope Center partnered with Tyson Foods to serve as the community’s Tyson Community Pantry, distributing over 150,000 pounds of meat to individuals, families, and organizations.
“Hunger is one of the most identified needs in the tri-state area with over 25,000 individuals considered food insecure. Since opening our doors in 2020, Sunnybrook Hope Center has provided over 1,800,000 meals to 42,680 households in our community,” shared Tina Stroud, Executive Director. “We cannot do this alone. We are thankful for our food source partners as well as the 1,067 volunteers who have served in our pantry over the last 3 years.”
In partnership with World Vision, Sunnybrook Hope Center also partners with churches and nonprofit organizations to serve Siouxland, northwest Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Our goal is to infuse material goods to support organizations on the frontlines who are empowering people out of poverty and serving the under-resourced in our community.
“This service is absolutely incredible as we help nonprofit organizations furnish new homes to individuals transitioning out of homelessness and families by affected trauma, abuse, and addiction,” said Stroud. “Our 55-partner church and nonprofit organizations are the ones on the frontlines to serve our community. We are so grateful we can help.”
Since this program began, Sunnybrook Hope Center has distributed 30 semi-truck loads of material goods valued at $1,500,000, blessing 82,000 people throughout northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota.
Thank you for your prayers, service to our Lord, and financial support of the Lord's work through this ministry. You are a part of something incredibly special.
