Coyote Chronicles

A message from the principal
As we near the end of the school year, I wanted to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership in all facets of your child's education. Your support and partnership is what makes Andover Elementary a special place to be.
Before I let you go, I want to step up on my soapbox one last time this year. While it's essential for children to have a break and enjoy their well-deserved vacation, it's equally important to ensure that they maintain their academic skills during this time. The "summer slide" refers to the potential loss of learning that can occur when children are not engaged in educational activities. I kindly ask you to foster a love for learning by incorporating enjoyable and educational experiences into your child's summer. Encourage them to read books, visit the local library, engage in math centered board games, explore science experiments, and discover the world around them. By doing so, we can help our Coyotes stay curious, engaged, and mentally active throughout the summer, setting them up for a successful transition into the next school year.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Have a fun, safe summer and remember to read, learn & play Cribbage, dig in the dirt, and most of all SMILE!
Impacks ~ School Supply Kits for 2023-24 School Year
We’re excited to share that we’ve decided to partner with Impacks for the 2023-24 school year to offer an easy way for you to purchase school supplies.
Here’s how it works:
1. Impacks has set up a website page for us with each grade listed. Visit https://shop.myimpacks.com/school/andover-elementary/
2. Each grade includes the full supply list required, with the exception of a few things, like gym shoes. Prices are very comparable to places like Target and Amazon.
3. At checkout, you will have the option to donate. These donations will help purchase school supplies for students who are experiencing a financial hardship.
4. Impacks will match the first $5 of each donation!
5. Impacks will ship kits directly to the school and will be waiting for your student in their classroom at open house.
ORDER DEADLINE: July 15th
PLEASE NOTE: THIS OPTIONAL SERVICE IS BEING PROVIDED AS A CONVENIENCE TO ANDOVER ELEMENTARY FAMILIES.

Volunteer News
So here we are...the end of the school year is quickly approaching. Volunteers made a HUGE impact at Andover Elementary this school year. Over the course of this school year, volunteers have given Andover Elementary almost 4,295 hours! That's a HUGE impact for our school!
Lastly, I would like to say THANK YOU on behalf of our students and staff! So many things that happen around school throughout the year simply couldn't happen without volunteers. From Walk-A-Thon to 5th Grade Graduation... Generously giving your time matters. Every single minute makes a difference! I hope your experience was enjoyable and that you will consider volunteering again when the time comes.
Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to working with so many of you again next school year.

Parent Engage 360 Podcast Episode 32 Part 2: A districtwide approach to school safety
The latest episode of the Parent Engage 360 Podcast is the second of a two-part series focused on school safety. In Episode 32 Part 2, host Liz Burgard was joined by Anoka-Hennepin Chief Operations Officer Greg Cole and Tim Fournier, the district’s Security & Emergency Operations Manager to learn more about the district’s approach to school safety.
Anoka-Hennepin Schools' first priority is the safety of its students and staff, and everyone plays a role in keeping schools safe.
In this episode, parents/guardians and community members can learn more about improvements that were made districtwide thanks to the 2017 Fit for the Future referendum, where voters approved the plan to address facility needs to create safe and secure learning environments for students and staff. You will also learn more about the district’s safety plan, including the terminology LOCKOUT, LOCKDOWN, and more on safety procedures and practices.
Tune in to the Parent Engage 360 Podcast on Podbean, Apple Podcasts, or at ahschools.us/parentengage360. The Parent Engage 360 Podcast is also now available on Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, iHeartRadio and Samsung Podcasts.
