Pilgrims on the Way of Truth

This week was filled with extreme shifts in weather, daily celebrations, crazy costumes, and a unifying, heartfelt all-school mass and Distinguished Alum address. Our students also showed the true meaning of School Spirit by collecting over 795 lbs of food during the week and at the PowderPuff game that we proudly delivered to the local food pantry today after school!

The continued record-breaking heat didn't melt the spirit of our students as they enjoyed the Disney-themed costume days and a joyful pep assembly! Our hall decorations created a wonderful environment, thanks to the tireless efforts of our student class officers and volunteers. Our Powder Puff game last night was a perfect evening to enjoy with friends and family. We even appreciated the delay of game for the Bears-Packers match-up so we could see how our own Midwest rivalry would play out on the field! The junior and senior girls played their hearts out - and our senior team prevailed in the end! And who can forget the meticulously choreographed Boys Cheer routine! We'll never watch The Lion King again without giggling at our memories of this!

Finally, today we were brought to tears as we listened to Mr. John Huemann's wonderful Distinguished Alum speech after today's mass. He admitted he had decided to speak from his heart, without notes, and his words brought the entire student-body to their feet in a thunderous standing ovation. To see so many of Mr. Huemann's classmates from the Class of 1966 join him - many of whom had been friends since their grade-school days at St. John the Baptist - was such a fitting reminder of the powerful ties that bind us all as a school community.

We can't wait to celebrate our school tonight with our entire Marian Central Catholic community! Please continue to pray for our students, faculty, staff, and families as we celebrate this weekend and help our students make lasting, joyful memories. As Fr. Max reminded us all today, this school is our HOME - and we are all FAMILY!

Happy Homecoming 2017!

Donations Desperately Needed for MARIAN CARES Event on October 6th!

Every year, our amazing Key Club hosts the Marian Cares event to provide pantry items, personal care items, as well as health necessities and services to our immediate community members who need our support. This year, our generous provider of donated toiletry items was unfortunately unable to service this coming Friday's Marian Cares event.

If you could please consider sending toiletry items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, female products, baby items, etc.) in with your students - we can help bring these essential personal care products to our clients! If you've been collecting the free hotel samples all these years - even a collection of these items would be so welcome!

ALL English classes will be collecting all week long - and we will be able to immediately turn around and provide these at our Marian Cares event planned for October 6th here at Marian!

Thank you for your generosity and compassion!

Conversations that Matter Series - First Event a SUCCESS!

Our inaugural session of Conversations that Matter, we focused on the ever-evolving dangers of substance abuse within our community. We had amazing speakers share their insights from the medical, legal, and spiritual fields with a wonderful group of parents and students. Thank you to all who joined us as we launched this powerful series. We already have our next Conversations that Matter session scheduled!

Click here to read an in-depth recap of our first Conversations that Matter: Understanding Substance Abuse.

Join us for our next topic: Raising Resilient Teens, in which we will be addressing how we can provide supports and valuable tools for our students as they experience stress and anxiety. This is a session geared towards a parent/guardian-only crowd, so please join us on Thursday, November 30th at 7pm in the school cafeteria. Again, we will have professional speakers on hand to share valuable insights and resources! As the date approaches, we will share out an agenda and invite with you all.
