The history of flight

Leonardo da Vinci thought that by strapping pieces of cloth to his arms he could fly, but now we know that its "thicker" than that literally and metaphorically. Today we use large metal wings with large engines to create force. In between the that time, there were still planes but they were slower and used propellers.

Types of planes

Leonardo da Vinci did not fly, but attempted to, by connecting sheets of cloth to his arms. The Wright brothers were the first to fly. They flew 120 feet in a bi-plane. The bi-plane caused too much drag so the style of plane was modified to a mono planes. A mono plane still had propellers, but only one set of wings. The propeller was eventually transitioned to the jet engine.

Super sonic speeds!

Super sonic speed is one of the four speeds. The types of flight are subsonic, transonic, supersonic and hypersonic. Objects moving at super sonic speeds are moving faster than the speed of sound. The speed of sound is 768 miles per hour at sea level. That is four times faster than a race car. A sonic boom is a loud noise like thunder. The noise is caused by a fast release of air pressure causing the thunder like noise
