Literacy Framework Principal's Academy 8:30 - 9:20 HDB 103
Are you an elementary principal? Do you want to learn more about the parts of the Literacy Framework? This session is designed for elementary principals to learn more about each part of the framework: Interactive Read Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Independent Reading, Shared Writing, Interactive Writing, Independent Writing, Phonics and Word Study and Conferring in Reading and Writing Workshop. We will learn more about each piece of the framework, highlighting parts with pictures and videos. We will also focus on what to look for in classrooms that might showcase each part of the framework. Although this brief overview is only one session, at least one of us would be willing to use the following session to follow up with any questions or further learning.

Book Clubs in the Elementary Classroom 10:30 - 11:20 HDB 103
Fall is such a magical time of year in the reading workshop for many reasons! Our session will focus on how you and your students can cultivate deep reading, deep discussions and deep thinking into book club conversations. Book clubs provide an opportunity for students to read, think, and discuss a text together. Navigating Dyslexia and Reading Concerns: Building an Understanding of Our Students 11:30 - 12:20 HDB Bandroom
This session is REQUIRED for reading support/title teachers, intervention teachers, and literacy coaches. It is open to other participants.
In this session, we will discuss current programming for struggling readers, considerations regarding dyslexia identification, and developmentally appropriate skills at different grade levels. Suggestions for RTI teams and additional classroom strategies will also be provided, including interventions, accommodations, and technology tools.

Come join us for some time to dig into The Reading Strategies Book by Jennifer Serravallo. Take a look at how we have used this book to easily find strategies that will reach our students' needs when we work with them in small groups. Bring your F&P data (including all fluency, comprehension, accuracy info) to make the most of your time!

When readers are striving to make gains, it takes the thoughtful teamwork of all stakeholders. In this session, we will share ways the classroom teacher and reading support teacher can work together to help readers make strong gains.
