McKinley Families,
We are so excited that the beginning of the school year is just around the corner. We are beginning next Wednesday, August 25th to be exact! I want to share with you some important information around how we will keep everyone safe here at school during this transition time back to school. This information is updated on a regular basis and the link below is the best way to stay up to date as the district puts out new information.
We are opening school to all students, all day, every day (Monday - Friday). The first day is Wednesday, August 25th from 8:45 - 12:00. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Thursday, August 25th and Friday, August 26th are FULL days of school for everyone.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES - no need to purchase school supplies this year, they will all be provided by the school.
OPEN HOUSE - come and meet your child's teacher and see their classroom on Tuesday, August 24th from 5pm-7pm. Please make sure you wear a mask while on the McKinley campus. This is a state and district mandate.
Here are some safety protocols we will have in place:
- NO attestations need to be filled out. Stay home if you are sick.
- There are new drop off and pick up locations, please click on the links below for detailed information.
- Due to Covid restrictions and spacing in our cafeteria, breakfast will only be open for our students. We know this is an inconvenience for some but we hope you understand our reasoning is to keep our students safely spaced out while eating.
- Masks will be worn while inside the classroom.
- Students may take off their masks outside and while eating.
- Desks will be spaced 3 feet apart, or as best as we can.
- Lunch will be served in the gym and we will space students 3 feet apart or as best we can.
- Quarantine protocols - in a K-12 indoor classroom the close contact definition excludes students who were at least three feet away from an infected student when (a) both students were wearing face coverings/masks and (b) other prevention strategies were in place. This exception does not apply to teachers, staff, or other adults in the indoor classroom setting.
- We will have an isolation room if a student becomes ill, they will be separated from other students until they can be picked up.
- Handwashing and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building.
- Supplies will not be shared by students and drinking fountains will not be used. Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle.
This is the link that is updated frequently for COVID proctols and other back to school information.
Please reach out via telephone(573-1400) or via parentsquare and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Voorhees, Principal
