The Architect
The architecct for the Temple of Poseidon stands on a rugged spur that plunges 65m down to the sea. It is constructed of local marble it has slender columns, and 16 still remain.

Who was Poseiden
Poseiden was the god of the sea, earthquakes and horses. Although he was officially one of the supreme gods of Mount Olympus, he spent most of his time in his watery domainan. Poseidon sometimes granted the shape-shifting power to others.
Dates
No one really knows when the original version of the temple was built but it was destroyed by the Persians in 480 B.C, in the second Greco-Persian War. A famous Athenian leader, rebuilt the temple of Poseidon probably around 440 B.C. but only some columns of it stand till today.
