The Mangus Messenger

4/1/16

Dear Parents

Happy April 1st!

This week was the perfect time to pull an April Fool's prank on the kids. I borrowed the Kinder chairs and you should have seen their faces. It was great watching them sit at their tall tables in those little mini chairs.

The best part was the added bonus of having our Kinder buddies walk into a room with no chairs. Talk about chaos! They were all sitting on the floor, when we came to return their chairs, and seemed happy to have them back. HA!

April Fools Day!!!

Reading

Ask the kids about our book Missing May. It's a good one and Mrs. Bray is making it come alive for us. We are extremely lucky to have her in the classroom room sharing her passion for literature and the author, Cynthia Rylant. I think you have already heard about the whirligigs. The ones hanging from our ceiling (character traits) are priceless.

Science Projects

The Earth Science Projects have been amazing! I love it when they get to the Science Standards and sound like teachers. The experiments and videos have been perfect! Thank you for all the support and helping me engage them outside of the classroom!

Happy Spring Break

Please help me reinforce the "do your best" aspect of the upcoming PARCC test. The students are nervous and I want to reassure them that everything is going to be fine. So, please remind them every day that all we expect is for them to do their best.

There is an amazing quote from the movie When the Game Stands Tall:

"Nobody here expects you to play perfect... But what we do expect, and you should expect from yourself and each other, is a perfect effort."

Don't let them let think we expect them to be perfect, not for a single second. No one is perfect and it's just a test! However, it is important that they give their best effort.

Thank you for your help in reducing the anxiety they are feeling. ;)
