The Norcross Elementary Eagle
Family Newsletter - April 6, 2020
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Norcross Elementary School Parents,
Of course, you all heard in the news regarding Governor Kemp's closing of all Georgia Schools until the end of the year. All of our health care professionals are trying to do their best with lowering the curve of infections and preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
At Norcross Elementary, we will continue with our instructional best practices with Digital Learning Days (DLD) until further notice from district officials. With this in mind, as a local school, we have done an amazing job planning lessons with a content focus. Now that we are in this transition for the long term, as a school we are going to move into a more personalized approach by connecting virtually.
The learning will continue each Monday through Friday. Yet, to further support students, each Friday will be a “Catch Up Day” in which students will have the opportunity to complete any assignments for the week, attend a live session with their specials teachers and other assigned teachers, receive feedback from teachers, and allow teachers to plan for the upcoming week. Please check with your child’s teacher for specifics.
Lunch will continue to be provided for anyone 18 years of age or younger between the hours of 11:00am and 1:00pm and at the bus stops between the hours of 11:00am and 12:00pm. Lunches are provided at no cost to the individual through the federal School Nutrition Program; however, the child must be present to receive the meal.
In addition, let's continue to lift up our spirits of our staff, students, and parents by joining me in our first DLD Spirit Week!!! Starting Tuesday, please feel free to email me pics of your child or family members dressed up to show off their school spirit!
Have a wonderful month in April. Please keep yourself safe and healthy!
Proud to be your principal,
Kassia
